God I want a Tattoo so much it hurts, but how on earth DO I decide?

My ideas so far:

1. Leaves or flowers, twining around pubic area, maybe peeping above low cut jeans.

2. Prehistoric art, such as a stylised animal, maybe on a shoulder.

3. Sequence of tiny images, such as stars, which I could add to when I felt like it

4. Simple writing on the inner thigh. Current favourite phrase is "To live is miracle enough"

5. Bold flower covering one butt cheek.

6. String of daisies on my foot

Think I'll avoid colours, and stick with black, need to be able to cover up for work, but would love the chance to show off now and then, on my terms

Whichever I choose is a surprise gift for my beloved who deserves everything in the world - I'd love to do it for Christmas1

As long as the tattoo means as much to you now as it will do in 40 years time...

Otherwise, don't bother.

My first one was a Taurus tattoo. Even if I do end up hating it, it'll ALWAYS be relevant. Was born a Taurus, will die one.

Might be an idea to incorporate something like that into one of your ideas to validate it more, just in case it's the only one you end up getting! It's bloody sore, takes about 2 weeks to heal fully, and some of the ideas you have can't be done in a single sitting.

Oh, and I wanna see pics if you get it done!

;oD
Reply:The best tattoos i have r the spontanious 1s. Where i walked into the shop %26amp; the 1st one i fell in love with, i got. 10yrs later still no regrets. DONT DO NAMES, they r with u for life, the men never are. Pubic area is good n sexy, something feminene, even a tribal or colour is good. Just be origional. Nothing worse than 100 people with the same chop.
Reply:Don't do it - one day you'll regret having it done, no matter where it is.
Reply:Think twice about getting a tattoo and your reason for getting one.

They may be popular right now, but how are you going to feel about it 10, 20, 30 years from now?

A flower on a young firm butt might appeal to some men, but when your butt starts to sag and get dimpled it might not look so cute. Have you ever seen middle aged people with tattoos? Truthfully they are not real attractive. When you go to apply for that job that you have your heart set on, will the person interviewing you see the tattoo and wonder what kind of person you are and if they want you in their company?

Tattoos are not cheap or painless to remove. It will also leave a scar.

Then there are people who feel that tattoos are prohibited or at the very least frowned upon in the religious context. For example, if you have a tattoo you cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery.

So think about it.
Reply:i would go with one or four.........i guess u can base your decision on the most voted for..............my opinion though
Reply:I took me 8 years to decide to get my tattoo and I really do love it, but I got it on my ankle. Problem is when I go to work it shows not a real professional thing. I have to wear pants all the time or long skirts. The pain for me wasn't that bad I slept through it. I don't regret it. I just have to compensate for where it is. I love showing it off in the summer. If you do it just be sure it is what you want.
Reply:maybe if you cant decide on one go to the tattoo shop and chose on from there are look at others and see do you like on of thiers. Maybe if that doesnt work maybe you can look at a family members and see do they ahve on you like and maybe it can be a tradititon later.
Reply:I would not have one,when you get older you will regret it.I have %26amp;

was embaressed to wear anything that revealed them.I have now had them removed which cost a fortune.
Reply:try a flower on you lower back with a tribal sign. or butterfly on the left side of your lower abdomen. i got nala from the lion king on my left arm with LEO my zodiac sign. be creative and choose something that you want. also get it the size you want because if you get it too small you may regret it. it will be painful at first but you will get used to it. and may even want more. good luck
Reply:OUCH... It'll hurt a lot more when you actually get it done!

Liking the daisies on the foot idea though.

Don't go with the shoulder thing, I think that looks common- sorry!
Reply:This is just my personal opinion, so don't all throw your rattles out of your pram. Here goes..... I would never ever have a tattoo, as i think they are very cheap looking and unfeminine. A woman, in my opinion should be as nature intended. If you were meant to have pictures all over your body, you would have been born with them. I would never class a woman with a tattoo as being 'classy', far from it. I think people that have tattoos are maybe a bit insecure and are looking for a mask.
Reply:Why not have the Tatto Artist Draw one in permnant ink, wear it awhile and then decide.
Reply:Your forgetting. The tattoo person is an ARTIST first. Simply choose 1 or 3 design ideas and go to them. Talk to them and let them say yes or no. They ususally won't work on pubic areas unless they know you or your an established client (meaning a few tattoo's under your belt with them). So, choose a few, talk to the artist and see what he has for his ideas to meld with yours, you'll be amazed at the beauty they can bring to your ideas!

I was one of those, "eww, I'll never ever get a tattoo, the body is a temple to God, yadda yadda yadda." So, me and a girlfriend finally go in and I find a Lion that I like, just off the example wall, not wanting something everyone else has, the artist changes it just for me and now its been on my shoulder 20 years. I have NEVER regretted it (I have forgotten its there, but never regretted it).

So, take your ideas and talk to your tattoo artist, you just may be one happy person! I am (I have 2 now).
Reply:Well for starters just remember that each tat you get will always be there so think it through. I have been tatted 9 times and counting. But honestly the least painful spots are on the back of your neck and chest around your boobs. The most painful spots is the top of your foot and your pubic area. The lower back is strait tho. but it is really up to you.
Reply:find one that exsers you to do thing some thing that you wont reget.
Reply:well i would never get a tatoo on my life, but get a small one behind ur neck or on your wrist. And i know a lot of ppl who say their tats represent something
Reply:i like option 4 the best
Reply:your best bet and i tell you as a Tattoo artist myself is to go to the shop of your choice and ask of a consultation a good artist will help you by picking your brain giving you all the facts about what your thinking about and help you make a choice
Reply:People are spending big bucks to have them removed. Tats are so 90's.
Reply:YES....It hurts alright!!...lol

Just make sure it is something you WANT!! IT will be there forever and ever!!...I have one on my wrist (a tiny chain of roses with my kids names) and one on my upper back and shoulders (my spirituality) So just make sure it is of IMPORTANCE to you and not just a passing phase...I would suggest your lower back, upper back, shoulder blade area, pubic area.......Tummy, butt or breast will change over time and you DON'T want a stretched out tatoo!!...lol....They are not too attractive...You should wait until you find something that is "special" to you!...I LOVE mine and will probably get more but there are people who don't....
Reply:If you have to ask because you can't decide then you're not ready. When you know exactly what you want without having to ask then you're ready. But stay away from the inner thigh one and the shoulder.

I have 5 and the ones on my left hip and lower back are the ones that really hurt. good luck.
Reply:Pubic area would be painful and you might have trouble finding a tattoo artist who will do it. You'll also be inviting infection. There's a lot of bacteria in that area. Take that one off your list.

The decision to avoid colors is good since colors fade. You also need to consider how the tattoo will look when you are old and wrinkled. Small tattoos are better for this reason.

Have you thought about stars going up the outside of one leg? That would look cool.
Reply:For a woman to have a tatoo, for me, is an absolute turn off.

To me it says, look at me, no brain.
Reply:If I ever got a tattoo, i would get one on my shoulder, but i would do the stars, you could start with one, and every time your loved one does something amazing and unexpected for you add another star!
Reply:Best thing for you to do is present your ideas to a tattoo artist and ask them to make you custom designs. Also, you can browse the internet for pictures you like and modify them to be tattoos. Just please do not steal others exact tattoos, taking work that is not yours is unfair and not really flattering in the long run. Good luck to you.

My favorite of the ones you listed would be 1 or number 4 if it was in a different place
Reply:i'd go with 1 or 2
Reply:i would go with option #4
Reply:draw your own design, alot of people do and you can do exactly wat you want and never regret it
Reply:you could have been born with a huge birth mark on your face...those are permanent ! ....oh...tatoos are too....well at least you get some choice in what it looks like even if its crap in 5 years time!!

Hell, i've got an acid face and 'your name' on my body, if you don't like it go over it in a few years time.

good luck.

no. 2 %26amp; 6 l think are good
Reply:no color? really? it takes a very talented artist to pull off a beautiful tattoo using no color so please keep that in mind when choosing your tattooer. don't just go to the first tattoo shop that catches your eye or has the right price. please look at portfolios and find something that you love, because it's easy to forget that tattoos really are forever. i know people say that, but rarely do we let that "forever" sink in. i know i never really thought about it until recently, and that is what prompted me to cover up some of my tattoos and go for a classic beautiful look instead.

i say go with whatever fits your personality the best or whatever means the most to you out of those choices above.

good luck on deciding!!
Reply:Well to me a tattoo is pointless unless it means something to you. It is perment and wont ever go away. Tattoos are great for healing and celebrating something. Just be sure to choose one that is special.
