Mother's Day Gift Ideas for a Picky Mother?

Hi, me and my two sisters (our ages range between 26 and 39) are looking for a Mother's Day gift for our stay-at-home mom. Here are some facts and prior gifts that could narrow things down:

She is 61

She doesn't have any hobbies

She is a homebody

She just had surgery on her shoulder (so nothing that involves strenuous activities please).

In the past, we have given her:

Gift Certificates to a spa/manicure/peticure/laser hair removal

Gift Certificates to a clothing store

Tickets for a flower show

China (tea set)
Mother's Day Gift Ideas for a Picky Mother?
You can get her favorite flowers along with her favorite stuffed animal. I did this for my mom for her birthday last month and she loved it. This would make a good mother's day gift as well. I got her favorite stuffed animal, a bengal tiger online at the site listed below. They have up to 7.5 foot bears here!
Reply:If she likes to watch movies, get her a subscription to NetFlix. It's the perfect gift for a homebody! They deliver movies right to your door off of a movie list that she selects. If you do a search on it, you'll see more info on the company. You could also make her something homemade...moms love to get those types of gifts. Here's a great site for homemade gift ideas:
Reply:How about a year of wishes vase - nice vase that has 365 notes %26amp; wishes so that she can open one every day of the year. Or a porch swing? If she doesn't use a computer, what about the Presto Printing Mailbox, which lets her get e-mails without a computer?

Reply:Generally Mother's day gifts are thoughtful and sentimental. I am getting my mother a frameagram from http://www.frameagram.com with a picture of my son. I know she's going to love it. Good luck.
Reply:go to monogramshophouston.com

they do a great job on embroidering. they have towel wraps, afghans, whatever. I'm a permanant customer there.
Reply:One of those massage machines...the small ones that she can either hold...or just lean back on
Reply:let me offer a suggestion: chocolate! THE International Labor Rights Forum will send your mom a bar of the finest Fair Trade chocolate along with a greeting card from the Fairness in Flowers campaign, explaining how a donation was made to support workers who cut flowers in South America. A card and a bar of chocolate are given to anyone who buys three raffle tickets.

NOTE: You must place your order by this Monday at 11am, before the raffle closes and the drawing is held. Visit http://www.unionvoice.org/laborrights/ev...

On the right hand side, in the box that asks "Will you support flower workers this May?" choose "Yes" and press "Buy Raffle Ticket". On the next page, under '3 Tickets' select 'Quantity:1' and press next. On the next page in fields 1 and 2, put your name and in fields 3-9 put your mom's info and proceed from there.

You could of course go it alone, and buy a card and chocolate yourself but try thinking of it this way: $5 for a greeting card, $5 for a chocolate bar, $5 for postage - that's a $15 dollar value right there. Plus, there is the added convenience of having ILRF take care of all this so you don't have to. And don't forget that this gives you 3 chances to win one of four bouquets of fresh roses delivered anywhere in the U.S. And most important of all, you are helping the workers who grow America's flowers.

Why is this important and why now in particular? Here's a few reasons: first of all, the United States imports almost 80% of its flowers, with a majority of these coming from Colombia. In Colombia, 100,000 workers grow, harvest, and package the flowers, often facing difficult and unsafe conditions. Two-thirds of these workers suffer from health conditions because of the use of pesticides and other chemicals. Their hardship is more than chemicals however. Many workers have been sexually harassed or assaulted (65% of the workers are women).

Additionally, during peak seasons (such as around Mother's Day), workers will sometimes put in 15 hour days. 15 hours of manual labor in terrible conditions and, for many women, additional time spent taking care of their families, leaves little time for sleep and workers suffer from exhaustion. So when you make a contribution to a campaign to improve the working conditions on these plantations, you can be assured it is money well given.

*To summarize:*

- Spend $30 on this years Mother's Day gift

- It goes to a good cause

- Your mom gets chocolate and a card (and maybe even flowers)

- Last chance! Place order this weekend!

And thanks very much to those of you who have made donations to the campaign. We really appreciate your support and best of luck in the drawing!
