...if you would be or ARE unattached, can you rate these characteristics based on your importance? [We ASSUME an older man, NOT unattractive, requisite social graces, some sense of humor, and warm %26amp; loving--as standard features...now the OPTIONS]:

- Handy around the house [home repair projects]

- A 'do-er' ['Let's go see the flower show/boat show/craft fair/traveling exhibit/'etc/etc]

- anything else you can name that's important to YOU

[My friend talks to me quite a bit about his dating problems. I'm married--30+yrs--clueless as to what women in my age group value, but think this is interesting. These characteristics are not all his--I'm not trolling for date bait. He's on his own!] THANKS!

~Okay, here's my list. Now, let me know if you find someone who fits my criteria. LOL



1. Intelligent

2. Passionate about something in life.

3. Sensual and/or has a dark side (not psycho - just dark)

4. Sexually creative and playful

5. Not just a sense of humor, but a sense of playfulness

6. Good conversationalist

7. Handy around the house and in the kitchen but willing to teach me the things I don't know how to do.

8. Patient

9. Spontaneous

10. Did I mention sexually creative and playful?????



Now you know why I'm answering this question and not on a date! LOL

Reply:First of all nice is important; and someone who is intelligent and able to carry on a conversation with interesting ideas is good. Education is great, and common sense is even better! I have met over educated people with no common sense and that is not very attractive. As Dudley Moore said in the movie "Arthur" when asked what it was like to be so wealthy he said "it doesn't suck" so I wouldn't dwell on the wealthy part, but it isn't a drawback! A good sense of humor is important to me. Sexual prowess is great, but that is only if you are nice! It's not like you are talking about 20 year old women who dont know the difference about being treated nasty or nice..any reliable 45 will tell you this...Also no Obsessive Compulsive guys who have to dust their fans to feel whole..you get the idea..:} The total picture is what draws me in, just like a good mutual fund gets a slew of interest. - Intelligence

- Involvement with and treatment of his family (kids, siblings, parents)

- Has goals and achieves them - yes a 'doer' I guess

- Must be decent with dollars (income/career not important but should not be in debt)

- Has interests of his own and pursues them



Looks - well you said it "not unattractive". Face it when we hit 80 we all look about the same.
Reply:I can tell you what 'won my heart' ... I met a man (and became best friends with) a man who can TALK about everything ... a man who loves art (he's a fine artist) and writing (i love to write) and a person with whom I'm now married (coming up on our 11th anniversary), and we are still best friends as well as being lovers, partners, and playmates. My husband is not a man who likes to 'fix things' (so we live in an apartment, and will never own a house). I was in the process of becoming a Catholic when we got married, but he was a 'nondenomiational Christian.' He said he would NEVER become a Catholic, but we had been married just over three years when he was baptized and confirmed ... two weeks after I was finally confirmed. We are PERFECT together, and are 'together forever and beyond' and the REASON we are this way is that we BOTH LOVE TO TALK about everything from Weather to World Issues. We DO NOT 'gossip' about others, though ... no interest in that.
