I don't like show tunes, theater, fancy interior homes and can't put flowers together. Is that strange?

Not judging others...just asking; some of my friends straight/gay think it's odd or funny I don't like or can do certain things. Aren't these stereotypes? Are gay guys automatically suppose to like or do these things? And I don't care if someone likes them or not or can do them; it's just not me.

It's an unfortunate part of our society even we make these mistakes too, but yes it's just a stereotype. You're a normal man, don't worry about it, why don't you show your friends what real men do? :)
Reply:You shoud be ashamed of yourself! Now get into your room, put on some Barbra Streisand, and I want to see a floral arrangement within the hour. And you better be mincing when you walk into that bedroom, boy...
Reply:I am the same way-and i don't worship-Judy Garland,Liza,Cher etc etc etc.
Reply:I think you're just normal. What you like is what you like, and that is how it's going to be, both in who you date and what you do.
Reply:It's a sterotype thing. Just enjoy the things you like and who you are as a person.
Reply:Well...I'm straight, and although I have no skills when it comes to interior design, I do love theater and some show tunes.

We all like what we like. I like boys, you like boys. I like chocolate milk, you may prefer strawberry.

Don't freak out about stereotypes...they're mostly BS anyway.
Reply:Then I guess we're in the same boat. I like theatre, musicals, interior design, and I like arranging flowers, as well as cake decorating. (Ace of Cakes on the food network is one of my favorite shows). But guess what? I can't fix a car all that well, I don't play sports (although I like watching basketball), I don't make sexist comments about women, and I'm not competitive, nor do I workout all the time.

And guess what? I'm not a gay man.

So..yeah, this is all just stereotypes. I dont care about those things either for the same reason. It's just not me. I'm just a kid-at-heart dorky lab rat guy. :)
Reply:Watch out! You and some of the responders above are liable to lose your membership cards! At least try to act like you have style and class (and especially like show tunes) and all will be good. :)

Have a great weekend!
Reply:not really
Reply:I don't cut the sleeves off my shirts, wear a mullet, or work on my '87 Thunderbird in my spare time.

I have a gay friend who is the best interior decorator ever, cooks like nobody's business, dresses fabulously, wears make-up constantly, and can't stand to get anything under his fingernails. However, his partner is in the Army (I know, shhhhhh), works on cars, doesn't wear anything that isn't BDU or jeans, drinks beer, and burps the alphabet.

But they love joking about how they're both on opposites sides of stereotypes. I think for the most part, people are people. Black people aren't all thugs, white people can in fact play basketball (well, some of us) Jewish people aren't all rich, not all French people have an odor, not all women are dainty flowers, and not all Muslims are trying to kill all Christians.

Stereotypes suck, don't they?
Reply:The problem of soceity is to sterotype individuals.
Reply:well its just like there are some camp gay guys who like fashion and act really gay ...or thers some who are gay and not camp ,,like m e,,i hate camp gays and i wont go near them lol..no offence to any camps
Reply:No, that's not strange.

I have a gay friend (part of a couple) who would probably burn water if he tried to boil it and is a *lousy* housekeeper.

Which is why he and his partner have hired a maid.

He also loves watching sports.

Really: it takes all kinds to make a world.
Reply:yeah, i know...

i am not supposed to work on my Harley, either..i am supposed to be out dancing...and i just don't.

i know those things are just stereotypes...and yet i do seem to take a lot of flack for not doing any of them...

my advice...hire a decorator, tell everyone you did it yourself...

they didn't believe me, but its worth a try...
