Cat in wedding as flower girl!?

My friend is getting married.

She is a cat trainer.

She wants to have her Cat be her flower girl/ring barrier

as in have the cat walk down the aisle when teh flower girl would because she has no young children in her family. She wants the cat to hold a pretty little bag in its mouth with the rings in the bag. She also wants to dress it up all cute. This cat is well trained so it will have no problem performing this task. Her cat is in cat shows and circuses in NYC.. The only problem is she is afraid her guests will think it is weird hahah

My opinion is that it would be kind of weird but cute haha..

what do you guys think!?

Cat in wedding as flower girl!?
I think having the cat in the wedding would make the wedding truly her own.

Since your friend is a cat trainer and has a cat that is up for the task, it seems perfectly appropriate to have her cat as a flower girl/ring bearer. The guests who know your friend would probably think it's cute and wonderful that she's getting to make her cat a part of the wedding. And having the cat there will probably make the wedding seem very "her" (meaning your friend.)

I train dogs who perform on stage, in parades, book releases, etc. People keep asking me if I'm going to include my dogs in the ceremony. At first I was really planning to. Eventually, I decided against it, because I didn't want them to be overwhelmed at the reception and I didn't want to have to worry about them during the reception, or have them in a crate somewhere they're not familiar with.

If I did have the dogs in the wedding, though it's not typical, I think the people who know me would expect it and love it. It would probably be the same for your friend. She doesn't have just a regular house cat. She had a professional cat. If she would like to have her cat in her wedding, there is no reason she shouldn't, as long as she thinks it's something the cat would be able to handle and be comfortable with.
Reply:Please take one of those wind up mice to the church, would be so funny to see the cat chase it round the church.
Reply:i agree, it's a little odd.

but hey i like things that are different. we need some variety and suprises. traditional weddings get boring and tedious. not a bad idea.
Reply:It's her wedding, it's her day. She should do whatever she wants to make it special and as unique as she is. I thinks it's a great idea!

Reply:i think that is a cute idea! just as long as nobody at the wedding has cat allergies!! ^-.-^ [%26lt;--cat?]
Reply:That is really interesting haha. As an outsider I would say it's a little strange but since she is a cat trainer it is completely appropriate, and most of the guests I'd imagine would be aware of this. Tell her to go for it and not to worry about others' thoughts. :)
Reply:no

OK, this officially wins the question of the day! (and no, that's not flattering....)
Reply:I think it's a dumb idea. Like when people have their dogs get married.
Reply:As an animal lover...I think it's great! I bought a tux for my dog to wear in my wedding, but alas, dogs aren't allowed on the beach here in Savannah GA. If the cat is well trained, I think it would be memorable and fun! Too many weddings are all stuffy anyway. Ya'll need to plan a p-a-r-t-y! :)
Reply:Even a well-trained animal can get distracted, especially in an unfamiliar setting with an unfamiliar task. I personally would not run the risk of having an animal carry my precious wedding ring.
Reply:I think that that's not a good idea because some people might be allergic to cats and the cat might run away. Even though it would be very cute.
Reply:I think its is a cute idea. I actually had a similar idea for my wedding... I want my dog to be the ring barer.
Reply:sounds like your friend and my mother would make wonderful friends as my mother is the same way...yes I do think that's taking loving cats just a tad bit to far yeah I would have to agree with you weird but somewhat cute....something different that's for sure lol
Reply:I agree with Lydia and others who said this is the dumbest thing they've heard. I think the key line in the question is when you say her cats perform in circuses -- does she really compare what's going on in her WEDDING to a circus? If I were marrying her I'd really have to think twice about it if she's really serious.

And yes, I'm a cat lover - I've had cats since before I could talk and I have 3 right now. They're fairly well trained, but even if they could stand up on their back legs and do a reading during the ceremony I still wouldn't do this. This is a WEDDING - we're talking about a serious, lifetime committment between two people who are pledging their love and faithfulness in front of God and their friends and family. Nowhere in that description does the word CIRCUS fit.

If I went to a wedding where this happened I'm afraid I'd be laughing too hard to hear anything that happened next.... weird doesn't begin to cover it!
Reply:If she can get a cat to do that I'd say the guests will be well impressed, wish MY cats could do that lol....
Reply:That is a really cute idea.
Reply:it's her wedding, she can do as she pleases, hopefully she will note this on her invitation so those with horrifying and debilitating allergies will be made aware
Reply:Well, some people will think it is cute and others will think it is weird. But when it comes right down to it, it is her day and she should do whatever she wants.
Reply:Well since she's a cat trainer, it's a unique way incorporate that in to the wedding.
Reply:It is cute and sweet. I would do that myself if I could!!
Reply:I wish my cat could do that!! Go for it!!
Reply:I guess it is their day. It totally sounds weird to me. Different but ok
Reply:Tell your friend it's her (and her groom's) wedding, and her cat. Therefore, if guests think it's weird, then that's just too bad. The cat sounds like it will be better behaved than most young children who are flower girls or ring bearers anyway.

Your friend may, however, want to make sure the majority of her guests aren't allergic to cats, but I really think that being exposed to one for a few minutes won't kill anyone.
Reply:Sure it is weird! It definitely is! No cat I ever had would do it. She must be one hell of a cat trainer to get a cat to agree to do that stuff.

But if somehow the cat will do it, why not, tell her to knock herself out.
Reply:Cool and original.
Reply:I think it would be amazing! No-one will forget her wedding!
Reply:I think it would be odd, but I would think it's cute. I'm an animal lover though.
Reply:i say she goes for it....yeah, it'll be a little on the bizarre side, but come on, what cat lover hasn't thought of this when they're planning their wedding? Dog owners do it all the time, why stop there? I'd be amazed to see it.
Reply:It's certainly something her guests are unlikely to forget!

Let's just say that while it's not really my cup of Darjeeling, it sounds like it fits perfectly with her life and her personality. So long as the wedding site has no problem with it, I think she should go right ahead with her plan.

After all, there are plenty of couples that use their dogs as attendants. Why shouldn't a well-trained cat be just as acceptable?
Reply:thats adorable actually.
Reply:I think that sounds totally tacky, and would never do that for a wedding.
