Can I get a new tattoo over the one that i have had for 2 years, even if it has black in it?

2 years ago i got a flower tattoo i really like it but i want to get a better one put over it. i know a lot about tattoos and all that but if i get a new one will the black from the old one show through?

Sure can! You may have to pick darker colors to go over the spots that are black. It's best to find an expierenced coverup artist in your area, take a look at their work and see what they reccommend doing with your old tattoo.

Reply:it will really depend on how the tattoo artist goes over it and it you want it to show or not. go to the tattoo shop that you want to get the new tattoo done at and let them know when you have in mind to go over your current tattoo. They will be able to give you more suggestions and info and if the black ink will be seen and if they need to do other stuff with your new tattoo
Reply:Personally i think that it all depends on the artist you go to.... a lot of cover up tattoos that i have seen arent the best, you can always see the dark colors through it. My advice would be to improve the one you already have, by adding new colors or a new design around it.
Reply:you should see an artist. even if the black cant go away he can probably incoorporate it into the new tat

A good artist can work with what you've got and make a nice cover up.
